JOB DESCRIPTION:
Summary/Objective The facilities technical assistant completes assigned specific repair or improvement projects as given by the facilities manager. The position may also fill in or assist in the daily janitorial or set-up duties of the facilities assistant. This position may also be called upon to be the facility point person during show performances.
Hours: The facilities manager will make up a monthly work schedule of 30 hours or more per week. Occasional weekends and nights may be included as needed.
Essential Functions:
Assist in interior meeting or event set-ups and strikes
Change out/replace burnt out lighting
Assist with the set-up and strike of outside tables and chairs for weekly or special events
Remove, sweep, mop or clean-up any obstructions that could impede daily operation
Assemble office furniture
Assist in preparing for facility safety inspections
Touch-up painting
Watch for and correct any conditions that may affect public safety
Parole the campus and remove any downed tree branches or hazards
Blow off and clear pathways and entries before performances
Perform wood replacement or repair
Perform minor electrical repairs
Perform minor plumbing repairs
Install shelving
Hang posters or picture frames
Tree and/ or shrub pruning
Pressure washing
Assist with storm and/or hurricane preparation
Ensure the facilities are locked down and secure during non-business hours
Competencies:
Ability to pro-actively attend to repair needs
Organizational, communication and personal skills
Detail oriented
Ability to work across departments as needed
Self sufficient
Supervisory Responsibilities: N/ A
Work Environment:
Physical demands: Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Travel: Occasional local travel required to pick-up supplies from a store or to pick-up or take things back to an off-site storage facility.
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability of assemble furniture and equipment from a diagram
Painting experience
Light plumbing experience
Light electrical experience
Light carpentry
Pressure washing experience
Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment
General handy man skills such as dry wall repair, tile or flooring repair
Additional Experience Preferred:
Equipment or appliance repair
Air conditioning maintenance.
Basic Automobile troubleshooting
Janitorial experience
Lawn care and irrigation maintenance
Work Authorization
Security Clearance: Access to all facilities and campus entry points and equipment storage. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal and DMV background check.
