JOB TITLE: Head Electrician
REPORTS TO: Lighting Supervisor
JOB TYPE: Seasonal full-time with hours worked as needed to meet production goals. Based on the production calendar, must be able to work irregular hours, evening hours, long hours, and weekend shifts. Riverside Theatre has a compensatory time policy. Union and non-union contracts available.
DESCRIPTION: The Head Electrician maintains the theatre's electrical systems and serves as production electrician operating all lights during a show, including traditional and automated lighting, spotlights, special lighting effects, and house lights.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Experience in all phases of electrics procedures and codes. Knowledge of current lighting technology - moving lights (Currently HES Solaframes, Mac Encore colds), wireless systems, dimming and power distribution.
Significant knowledge of DMX signal flow and standard theatrical software.
Proficient with programming ETC EOS consoles.
Understanding, ability and willingness to troubleshoot lighting and network issues.
Maintain positive attitude, possess strong leadership skills, high level of organizational, communication, problem solving skills and ability to work well in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines.
Proficient computer skills in: Lightwright, Vectorworks, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Familiarity working with unions.
Maintain all paperwork for productions.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and able to work from heights (i.e. catwalks, grids and genie lifts).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Uphold the Core Values of Riverside Theatre.
Assist in managing and working with the Electrics Department crew.
Execute lighting designs and maintain during the run of each show.
Provide maintenance for all lighting designs, and equipment for each Riverside Theatre production or event.
Run Lighting Console for all performance and maintain production lighting.
Oversee and manage the hang, layout and focus of all lighting for each production and event.
Organize and maintain extensive lighting inventory, including equipment accessories such as hazers, LED fixtures, moving lights, and other DMX equipment.
Uphold safety protocols and participate in all required training.
Work closely with Production staff to coordinate implementation of lighting systems.
Provide needed work lights, running lights and cue lights for build crews, run crews and stage management.
Advise Lighting Supervisor and Director of Production of any safety concerns and remediation.
On a weekly basis clean and organize all electrics areas on Stark Stage.
Assist with in-house benefits, performances, rentals, lectures and special events as assigned.
Read daily rehearsal and performance reports and respond to any reported problems and be readily available for any troubleshooting.
Attend meetings, rehearsals and events as needed.
Attend all Lighting calls and assist as needed.
Serve as crew member, board operator, and assist with other projects as assigned by Director of Production.
