BACKSTAGE ACCESS CLASSES
PART LECTURE. PART SEMINAR. PART PARTICIPATION. PART DISCUSSION.
Love theatre? Want to learn more about the shows being produced at Riverside Theatre? BACKSTAGE ACCESS gives you the key to behind-the-scenes information and discussions of our main stage productions. This series of adult courses will take a closer look at the professional productions being presented by Riverside Theatre while also exploring theatre as an art form and celebrating the magical relationship that exists between actors and audience within a shared space and time. By examining a specific play on the Riverside calendar, studying its past production history, and learning about Riverside’s production through visits from guest artists and design displays, class members will discuss each play, be introduced to various production elements, and, ultimately, analyze the choices made here at Riverside after attending a performance. Backstage Access classes seek to build a greater awareness of the many facets and collaborations involved in theatrical expression as we continue to explore the questions “Why theatre?” and “What makes the live theatrical event different from all other art forms?”
