Souvenir
By Stephen Temperley
“An affecting comedy.” – The New York Times
Based on the true story of Florence Foster Jenkins, Souvenir tells the story of the New York socialite who gave a series of legendary charity concerts in the 1930s and 40s. Those concerts became the stuff of legend since Jenkins was unable to recognize pitch, key or tone. Souvenir begins as her music director, Cosme McMoon, now performing at a piano bar, reminisces about his twelve years with Madame Flo. At times hilarious, this play with music is a touching “fantasia” that celebrates the triumph of the human spirit and the resilience of true friendship.
