Professional Apprenticeship Program
Riverside Theatre, America’s Largest Small Town Professional Theatre, located in Vero Beach, FL is currently accepting resumes for our Apprenticeship Program. Our Professional Apprenticeship Program offers training for emerging professionals to apply their skills to work in a professional theatre setting. Candidates are recent college graduates or young professionals who are looking for hands-on experience working along side professionals in a concentrated area of production. Riverside’s program is designed to offer professional experience and education to young artists looking to advance their careers. Design opportunities are available at Riverside Children’s Theatre in every area of production throughout our season as time permits. Apprentices are paid a weekly salary and housing is provided.

Riverside Theatre will be attending auditions at SETC 2017 for performance apprenticeships.
For production positions we will be conducting interviews at SETC 2017 in Lexington, Kentucky and will also be at the Stage Expo at USITT 2017 in St. Louis, Missouri.
Below is a list of descriptions for Apprenticeships offered at Riverside:
Apprentices are supervised by our Master Electrician and assist with the preparing, hang and focus, maintaining, running and strike of all Riverside Theatre productions. Required skills include basic wiring knowledge, ability to read a light plot, general knowledge of all lighting equipment. Apprentices will run the light board and serve as deck electricians for all mainstage shows and should be comfortable work with heights. Candidates should have prior experience in either an academic or professional setting and be able to work in fast paced environment. Apprentices will also work as Lighting Designer on Riverside Children’s Theatre productions as time permits.
(2 positions available for AUG 2017- MAY 2018 Season)
Stage management apprentices report directly to the Production Manager and AEA Stage Manager for each assigned production they work on. Apprentices will assist Production Manager with a wide range of production tasks and work backstage on all Riverside productions. Required skills are previous stage management experience in an academic or professional setting, organized, good communication and interpersonal skills, proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, ability to work well in fast paced environment and be able to adapt to changing schedules.

Performance Apprentices are responsible for performing in touring shows for children in local schools and for Young Audience shows both on site at the Riverside Theatre and on small tours. Individuals will also assist instructors with classes, camps, shows, and outreach programs.
(6 positions available; MAY 2017- MAY 2018)
The Paints apprentice will report to the Scenic Charge and assist with the painting of scenery for all Riverside Theatre productions. Candidates should have prior scenic painting experience in either an academic or professional setting and any drop painting experience is a plus.

Props apprentices report to the Props Master and assist with the construction, acquisition, set dressing and maintenance of props for all Riverside Theatre productions. Woodworking, upholstery, sewing, painting and craft skills are required and any welding experience is considered a plus. Apprentices will also assist the Props Master with shopping, purchasing, managing of budgets and help with load in and load out of all props for all Riverside productions. Apprentices will also be assigned as Props Master on Riverside Theatre Children’s Productions as time permits.

Costume apprentices report to our Costume Shop Manager and Wardrobe Supervisor to execute the costumes designs for all Riverside Theatre productions. Apprentices will serve as the wardrobe crew for all Mainstage productions and assist with special events as assigned. Stitching, cutting and draping skills required and any wig/makeup experience is a plus. Candidates must have prior experience working in a costume shop in either and academic or professional setting. Apprentices will also be assigned as Costume Designer at Riverside Children’s Theatre as time permits.
