Beneficiaries Selected for the 2009 Treasure Coast Wine Festival
In keeping with their mission to support healthcare, social services and educational programs in Indian River County, the Board of Directors of the Treasure Coast Wine Festival have chosen their slate of beneficiaries for the 2009 event. Beneficiaries of the proceeds derived from the January 2009 weekend include the Indian River Medical Center and Foundation, Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, Vero Beach Museum of Art, Riverside Theatre, Children's Home Society, Hibiscus Children's Society and the Environmental Learning Center. In addition, the highest individual bidder from Saturday Night’s Black Tie Dinner and Auction has the privilege of designating ten percent of the Festival proceeds to the local charity of his or her choice. As a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization, the Festival’s purpose is exclusively charitable.
“We want to continue making a positive difference in the lives of families and children in this community” states Tom Naerebout, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “When this event began in 2000, we started with one beneficiary and have now grown to 7 with the 2009 event. Last year was one of record results and $350,000 was donated back to the community. In total over $2 million has been raised by the Treasure Coast Wine Festival since its inception in support of its mission.”
Festival patrons are invited to enjoy a weekend of culinary adventures and vintage varietals in Vero Beach, Friday January 23-25, 2009. They may choose to select a delectable dining experience at Vero Beach’s finest restaurants and homes created by the pairings of celebrated chefs and notable vintners on Friday, January 23. On Saturday, January 24, a black tie dinner with live and silent auctions featuring unique and superior lots of wines will be held under the grand tent at Riverside Park. The weekend concludes on Sunday, January 25 with an afternoon of wine tasting, culinary challenges and seminars to suit every palate. It will be held under the grand tent in Riverside Park.
