Local Artist Donates Original Oil Painting to Benefit the 2009 Treasure Coast Wine Festival
As the January 23-25 date of the 8th Treasure Coast Wine Festival draws near, plans are falling into place at a rapid pace. The piece de resistance of the 3 day festival weekend is no doubt the Live Auction, to be held under the Grand Tent in Vero Beach’s Riverside Park on Saturday evening, January 24th. The much anticipated Auction will again be featuring unique and superior lots of wines, extraordinary travel and a one-of-a-kind piece of art.
Vero Beach artist Jill Pease, one of seven accomplished resident artists from the Tiger Lily Studio on 14th Avenue in historic downtown Vero Beach, has been invited to be the featured artist of the event and her donated painting will be used as the closing lot for the Wine Festival’s Live Auction.
“The Treasure Coast Wine Festival is honored to showcase an original painting by Jill Pease in the Live Auction portion of our event,” says Meredith Vey, Event Coordinator. “Jill is a bright talent among our artist community and her partnership with the Festival is another opportunity for us to expand our support of Vero Beach.”
Jill has been painting for close to 20 years in a number of medium including oil. Her oil painting of a vineyard she visited in Dixon, New Mexico was her inspiration for her donated painting, which her daughter Lilly suggests is her best work to date.
“I was painting in Taos, New Mexico last summer when I received the invitation by the Wine Festival organizers. I was extremely thrilled to be included in such an important event in my home town and quickly accepted. While in New Mexico, I took the opportunity to travel the beautiful organic farms in that region and finally discovered the ideal location, filled with beautiful flowers, a vineyard and farm houses that I would eventually feature in my “plein air” painting. I am known as a landscape painter and for my wide use of color. I am nearly complete with my piece, adding the fuchsia colored Bougainville around the farmhouse will be the final addition to my painting, appropriately named Brilliant Bouquet.”
In keeping with their mission to support healthcare, social services and educational programs in Indian River County, the Board of Directors of the Treasure Coast Wine Festival have chosen their slate of beneficiaries for the 2009 event who include the Indian River Medical Center and Foundation, Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice Foundation, Vero Beach Museum of Art, Riverside Theatre, Children's Home Society, Hibiscus Children's Center and the Environmental Learning Center. In addition, the highest individual bidder from Saturday Night’s Black Tie Dinner and Auction has the privilege of designating ten percent of the Festival proceeds to the local charity of his or her choice. As a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization, the Festival’s purpose is exclusively charitable.
Tickets for all facets of the three day Festival will go on sale soon. More information may be obtained by visiting www.treasurecoastwinefestival.com.
