Stage Operations Manager
Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach, FL seeks a qualified individual to serve as Stage Operations Manager. This is a year-round position with a competitive salary, and 100% medical & dental insurance coverage. The company provides a $10K life insurance benefit as well as offering affordable additional coverages. Also included is 5 weeks of paid holiday/vacation time.
The Stage Operations Manager manages the safe operation of all stage equipment and oversees the installation of all stage rigging, as well as trains all deck crew, line set operators, riggers, and stage operations over hire. The position serves a crew leader (rail operator) for all mainstage shows. Other duties include, but are not limited to managing Stage Operations personnel; leading the process of planning and executing the changeovers for each show and combination of shows; evaluating and planning production storage systems; coordinating rigging in theaters with Technical Director and other department heads; collaborating and communicating with outside partners whose responsibilities intersect with the operations on stage during special events, and the load-in and load-out of all theatre rentals; monitoring technical rehearsals and collaborating with personnel to optimize show run tracks; developing and advocating for Stage Operations labor, materials, and capital budgets; and ensuring theaters are properly maintained.
Minimum requirements to apply include the following: three years of experience in professional theatrical stage carpentry and/or run crew; three years of supervisory experience in the entertainment industry; expert knowledge of theatrical rigging and stage craft. The ability to read scaled construction and design drawings is required. The ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multitask is required as well as the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Candidates must be able to communicate orally and in writing, should possess a general knowledge of theatre history, and have the ability to interact with all levels of the organization. The successful candidate should be able to quickly and efficiently problem-solve and repair all theatrical rigging equipment. The knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general comfort with computer systems is desired. Candidates should possess a demonstrated competence in hands-on construction techniques and standards, and the physical capability to operate standard wood-working hand and power tools, specifically screw guns, saws, routers and staple guns. The ability to frequently climb and work from ladders and personnel lifts, squat, crawl, kneel, reach above shoulders, lift up to 75 pounds, and push and pull forces of up to 80 lbs is required.
